Hiking and Scouting for 2008
n Target
Hello Fellow Members,
The 2008 Hunting Season will be here before we know it. I wondered if anyone is interested in doing any hiking. Many of you are probably already familiar with the trails above our range. The main trail consists of the old road cut for Crenshaw Blvd. There are about a dozen side paths off from the main trail as well. For those of you who are not familiar, the main trail is located about a quarter mile south of the range, and I’ll be happy to show anyone the location of the trail-head.
For those of you who already hike, you can make it from our range to the top of P.V. in approximately one hour. However due to the variety of trails there is the option of a shorter or longer hike. The degree of challenge also can be varied to meet the various levels each of us are currently at, while offering an opportunity to get in better condition for the hunting season ahead.
In January Leon Fricke, Ken Meyer, and myself drove out to La Panza area for quail and pig hunting opportunities. While neither of those two panned out, we did see an Elk herd of approximately 70 animals right off of Highway 58. If anyone is interested in other scout/camp-out trips on a monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly basis, as part of getting in shape for this year’s season let me know.
Anyone who would like to do either of the above, please feel free to give me a call.
